General note ABSTRACT<br/>It is well known that the demand for fuel is increasing in today's world. Most things require fuel from daily life to the basic which are dependent on fossil fuel. Unfortunately, researches show that proven reserves of fossil fuel are depleting. Therefore, the need for other alternative fuel is needed. This research proposal aims to study the combustion properties and extraction of native seed oils in Brunei Darussalam for practical uses such as cooking purposes. The extraction of oil from seeds of Kembayau, Mangoes, and Pumpkin are performed using mechanical pressing and their combustion properties are found. These three oils are compared for density, fuel value and availability. Among these oils the mango oil is found to be the best. Mango and kerosene oil with a 1:1 mixing ratio is found to have the highest calorific value of 54.86 MJ/kg. An oil stove is used for cooking test with this mixture. This fuel mixture used in the stove gives an average of 20% more efficiency than using kerosene alone.
