500 ## - GENERAL NOTE
General note The global healthcare industry has consistently reported numerous
obstacles to safety
performance. Nurses in the healthcare industry face challenges when trying to improve safety performance may be attributed to a need for more situation awareness. As a result, situational awareness may be influenced by a nurse's safety leadership, knowledge, and personality traits. The study investigates how these nurses safety leadership, safety knowledge, and personality traits impact situation awareness, affecting safety performance. This study aims to assess the impact of safety leadership, safety knowledge, and personality traits on safety performance in the healthcare industry in Brunei Darussalam. This study also explores the mediating role of situational awareness in the relationships between safety leadership, safety knowledge, personality traits, and the connection between personality traits and safety performance. This study employed a quantitative approach with a stratified random sample. A total of 740 questionnaires were distributed to all nurses at RIPAS, resulting in 586 collected responses. Out of the 586 collected responses, 535 were deemed suitable for analysis. This study employs
frequency analysis and descriptive statistics to comprehend individuals. Exploratory factor analysis was conducted to validate the appropriateness of item measurements for each variable. The study's theoretical framework generated research hypotheses, which were tested using partial least squares structural equation modelling. The results indicated that safety leadership, safety knowledge, and personality traits significantly impact safety performance in the healthcare industry. The association between safety leadership, safety knowledge, personality traits, and safety performance was partially mediated by situation awareness. A comprehensive theoretical framework was developed from these key discoveries and studies, contributing to the body of knowledge in the healthcare industry from a health and safety perspective. The findings have practical implications and benefits for professionals in the healthcare field. This study highlights the importance of sustaining positive safety leadership, safety knowledge, and personality traits for nurses in the health sector to improve the situational awareness of nurses in the health sector so that the problem of safety performance can be mitigated, particularly in developing nations. This finding suggests that employees in healthcare organizations who exhibit openness, neuroticism, extraversion, and conscientiousness have a higher sense of commitment and job satisfaction. The implications of the findings will be beneficial for hospital administrators and the healthcare industry.

Keywords: Safety Performance, Situation awareness, safety leadership, safety knowledge and personality traits.
