A Final Year Project submitted to Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Accounting & Information System.

Abstract

This research paper shows consist of research on government support on SMEs. The emphasis is on funding, on whether the government in developed and developing countries have the same support n their Local SMEs or not. Then the study also looking on Brunei Darussalam's Government on whether any of the method use by other country applicable to use by Brunei or not.

With the aim to meet one of National Vision 2035 Local Business Development strategy which is Introducing well-designed and well-funded programs and more effective ways of financing local enterprises to help local SMEs and entrepreneurs gain business skills and become more competitive.

It was encouraged by His Majesty that Brunei should appreciate the contribution of SMEs and together assist them in their problems and urged the relevant agencies to iron out or streamline any regulations or processes that can hinder the growth of SMEs. Government agencies must also provide an avenue for the growth and development of SMEs so that they will become a key sector that can help develop the nation, the monarch said.
