ABSTRACT

The solar powered system for advertising box offers a revolutionary concept for the outdoor advertising. The solar advertising box enable users to place advertising on anyway where sunlight presence, without installing physical electric cable and paying monthly electricity bills.

This paper introduces a solar advertising box system functioning box rotation and poster displaying of each side, which overcomes the disadvantages of ordinary advertising light boxes of humdrum displaying and high energy consumption. The system includes three parts which are box rotation system, portable system and can function during night time which can improve the solar energy efficiency and reduce energy consumption.

Box rotation system is where the inner aluminium frame is rotating by a turntable connected to a motor via a belt. The portable system means the solar advertising box can be easily transported as it is installed with wheels at the bottom for accessible movement. In addition, the solar advertising box can also function during night time as the solar panels will be charging the battery during the day while at night, where the battery will run the motor and light up the LED lights.

The general problems that have been encountered during researching are for one full charge, without recharging again, how long the system will provide lighting and what is the lifetime of the LED lights. The solutions for the problems are it depends on the installation site system where the annual average daily sunshine hours may vary based on its latitude. This design could provide sufficient power for operating from dusk to down. Lastly, for the LED lights, it exhibit very long operational life characteristics, typically 50 000 hours or longer. Akin all light sources, LED lights slowly decrease in light output over time,

Experiment results show that the solar advertising box works stably and has potential to apply under the situations where cable laying is not convenient.
