ABSTRACT
Remittance is the financial flow from one individual to another, often with the intention of lifting the financial burdens of the recipient. Due to the globalisation and mobility of labour flow, researchers have been taking interest in the effects of remittances on the economic growth of the countries concerned. The objective of this research is to examine the relationship between the remittances sent from Brunei Darussalam by the foreign workers to their home countries and the skills that are transferred by these foreign workers to Brunei Darussalam.
This research is conducted in an exploratory and interpretive manner. Primary data is obtained from an interview with a relevant person from Brunei Darussalam's Immigration Department. Secondary data is obtained from the Annual Statistical Books published by the Department of Economic Planning and Development as well as Annual Report from Authority Monetary Brunei Darussalam.
This research concludes that there is positive relation with the number of remittance outflow with the number of foreign workers employed in Brunei Darussalam.
