As Brunei has taken an initiative to push forward the country's development as a global Halal Hub, this research aims to further strengthen the Halal Food Supply Chain in Brunei to ensure the integrity of the halal food is not compromised throughout the whole supply chain. A semi-structured interview approach is conducted to the local food companies in Brunei which are major players of the Halal Food Supply Chain. Three different traceability approaches were identified in this research, and the challenges faced by the participating local food companies in having efficient traceability were also highlighted. The research then provided suggestions for improvements of the traceability system and concluded that the development of technological advances, better coordination and collaboration of the supply chain networks, along with sufficient resources and government support and involvement will help in the success of Halal food supply chain traceability. It is hoped that the outcome of this research can provide a better view and understanding of what is occurring in the local halal food industry, particularly on the traceability matters and can therefore serve as a guidance for relevant stakeholders to maximize the traceability efforts in enhancing the Halal food supply chain integrity.
