500 _aAbstract Tension cracks are present widely in soil slopes. Soils with tension cracks have a higher permeability and exert an additional driving force on the slope which can decrease the stability. An engineered slope in Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) is assumed to have developed different depths of tension cracks and was analyzed for its stability under the rainfall pattern in Brunei for the month in January, 2014 which has over 150 histories of landslides cases. To do this, slope investigation to determine its geometry and the necessary soil parameters are done. A transient seepage and slope stability analyses were carried out using SEEP/W and SLOPE/W. The results showed development of shallow cracks do not contribute to reduction of slope stability, but instead increases the stability on some of the days. The results also showed as the depth of the cracks increases, more days tend to have a lower stability.
