The concern of this research was more towards PWD with mobility and accessibility issues in accessing university infrastructure and facilities. The research method was conducted by using comparative analysis of secondary data through linking the relationship between two case studies at which one containing accessibility issues and the other containing remedial strategies. The construction of recommendations for university infrastructure was based on the guidelines from the result of analysis including the principles of inclusive design. As a result, the area of interest for incorporation of inclusive design includes parking spaces, ramps, elevators, doors, spaces and floors. Several strategies and measures were adopted to ensure these areas comply with the inclusivity guideline as part of the recommendations to allow accessibility of PWD in the university. Other measures include enforcing policy and raising public awareness on the discrimination against PWD. In conclusion, the recommendations are applicable to any university worldwide due its general characteristics. For effective implementation of inclusive design on a specific university, the problems with the current infrastructure must be heard from the PWD studying at that university for better solution formulation. For future research, the reliability of this study can be further extended by conducting research involving local PWD and local university infrastructure, should the sample be sufficient. | ||
