500 _aABSTRACT This research project aims to perform an analysis on combustion in natural gas furnace. This work presents a numerical simulation of the non-premixed combustion of natural gas in atmospheric air in an axis-symmetric cylindrical chamber, focusing on the effect of thermal radiation on the shape of the flame. The simulation is based on the solution of the mass, energy, momentum and the chemical species conservation equations. The analysis involves a comparative was examined. The present numerical study characterizes the turbulent flame of methane-air in a furnace in order to determine the effect of Air to Fuel Ratio on the distribution of temperature, on gas consumption, and on the emission of NOx. The results in this study are obtained by simulation on FLUENT code. The results demonstrate the influence of different parameters on the flame structure, temperature distribution and gas emissions, such as turbulence, and mixture fraction.
