500 _aABSTRACT Milling AISI 316 stainless steel conventionally employs cutting fluids to reduce high-temperature generation associated with higher cutting speed, feed rate, and depth of cut. Unfortunately, cutting fluids can cause several issues in terms of the environment, health, and production costs. This study aims to conduct quantitative experimental research on the effectiveness of minimum quantity lubrication in AISI 316 stainless steel milling. Taguchi's orthogonal array was used in this experiment, which was found to significantly reduce the number of experiments required compared to a full factorial design. In addition, the signal-to-noise ratio, ANOVA, linear regression analysis, and confirmation test were performed. The spindle speed, feed rate, depth of cut, and flow rate of 1500 rpm, 360 mm/min, 0.2 mm, and 200 mL/h were the best parameters for achieving low surface roughness. Spindle speed, feed rate, depth of cut, and flow rate of 500 rpm, 360 mm/min, 0.1 mm, and 40000 mL/h, respectively, were optimal conditions for obtaining low burr height. The most significant parameters affecting surface roughness and burr height were spindle speed and depth of cut, respectively.
